And here we are, my first post from my new Laptop. Kinda got distracted exploring my Steam Library and getting to level 13 on #GrimDawn before all the accounts were set up on it. Still need to log into a few. But yeah, very happy with it. Should make navigating my Obsidian notes way quicker too.

Been a bit quiet over the last few days, due to my laptop crapping out. Old Acer Aspire, 8GB, on board graphics. Had it for several years, been playing up for the last six months or so. Just upgrading to a new HP Victus today. 16GB, 6GB graphics. Finally get to play #GrimDawn as the gods intended.

OK, author time, #WitchSky. I thought some of you might find the Obsidian workflow for my Barghest Wyrd writing project interesting to look at. Seeing as I'm treating it like chapters of a book, albeit published for free as they are ready over on my portfolio blog. Full description in the ALT TEXT.

OK, so I get that this is purely a product of consumerism and, as boring as it sounds, the supply chain. But I just LOVE how the trade shows for #Halloween start at this end of the year. While I'm not in the USA, and the UK is a little more subdued in their spooky, I could watch these all day.

Why yes, that IS a glass skull full of Christmas tree lights on my windowsill while a storm rages outside this evening. Just because Halloween isn't for several months don't mean I can't enjoy the concept some while waiting.

So, Easter Saturday then. Always found this day to be a bit odd. Like, people in the UK tend to do something for Good Friday, trip to the beach, go to a club, whatever. Family for Sunday, Relax on the Monday. But the Saturday is just the same as any normal weekend. Over thinking again, I suppose.

Something a little more modern for #FolkloreThursday today, #WitchSky. A folk horror masterclass expertly read by some great voices. Just an exquisite slow burn, I'm honestly in love with everything about this. Highly recommend.

Y'know, what I hate about the hero's journey, aside from the excuse it gives characters to commit atrocities in the name of destiny, is just how few of them are self made. Working on twisting, multi-reference articles under the Barghest Wyrd project header currently. This whole Fortean Godform thing has put me in an odd space. First time I've done tight, professional level writing for work that won't be published outside of my own website. Feels weird, but right too.

While i don't get to go on psychogeographic drifts as often as I did back when I lived in London, Cardiff still offers some great sights for those, like myself, who find the actual mechanics of the entrapment of wild features within the urban landscape to be of special interest.

And we're at #PhantomsFriday again. Been surfing the web, trying to dig through the newer slop to find old sites from when I was first ghost hunting. So back in the 1990's. And I just found the perfect gallery for you if you have an interest in the sorts of photos that were being shared back then.

OK, so maybe I wasn't as done with the restructure over at my author portfolio as I thought back on the Equinox then. But that's good for my readers, as it means I just added my thoughts on two more books to my Media Reviews section today. Real Magic, and Folklore Myths and Legends of Britain. Nice.

Not sure if I'm just being dyslexic, but anyone else notice that searching for anything remotely strange online is becoming almost impossible all of a sudden? Like, yes, we have link rot and dead internet theory. Those are a given. But as a writer, I spend a lot of time looking up concepts ... (1/3)

Wow. So there's actually warm air coming in from outside today in Cardiff. Equinox was OK, and yesterday was about even between the interior of the house and the world on the other side of the open windows. But today it is very noticeably hotter out there. And the air is fragrant with life too.

Ah yes, the weekend is here. Post equinox yard work to do now it's warmer. Going to be a pain with the bad back working against me the whole time, but needs to get done. Then some writing later, and my monthly scout around the web for publishers with upcoming projects who are looking for articles.

Writing tonight. No surprises there of course. Good music helps. Can't get enough of the haunting, longing, sadly resigned melodies associated with this soundtrack. To live forever, indeed.

Hadn't set an equinox deadline for this, but the reformat and redesign over at my author portfolio is now complete. New categories, fresh menus and a cohesive look across all posts. Took about a month, off and on, to bring everything in line. Worth it, considering the higher visitor numbers lately.

Final proofread on the next Barghest Wyrd #Godform entry over on my author portfolio is done. Set to post on the 11th, so a few weeks time. But here's a little preview of the image I went with to help set the reader's mood. Pilot V5 and Sharpie on printer paper. That, and a very sore hand.

That feeling when you finish an essay on the contextual underpinning for the void god you recently gave form, and realise that it's still around 2,000 words even after clean up. Well, anyway, that's the Barghest Wyrd entry for the start of next month done. Just need to get the art ready before then.

Monday Night #Mood.

Continuity is fun. Been going through old blog entries, stumbled upon my interview done ahead of the Highgate Vampire Symposium back in 2015. Heartened to read that I was saying similar things a decade ago to now. Same style of necromancy and interest in thought forms too. Makes me feel kinda legit.

Also very much so on the heavy duty magick. I grew really tired of notebooks and journals falling apart and with AI creeping into every application—I feel like it was time to really invest in a chonker grimoire. Here's a video from the book binder. Thinking about getting a small version too. 🤔

OK, so subject to proofreading and checking over the links and such, the new compact menu system is now in place over at my author portfolio. Focus remains on showcasing my published work, though the new Barghest Wyrd, Noosphere Tools and Calendar Notes sections also include some useful stuff too.

So, update on my work to give form to the nagging Fortean void god that has been like a nail at the back of my mind since London last month. Well, you notice that one of the distinguishing features on this thing is a single, flaming eye? Guess who has a painful, swollen, burning left eye currently?

Gods, when that nostalgia hits like a truck. How I miss those Dreamcast days. Phantasy Star Online, cold cherry coke, no work in the morning. My HUmar slinging his Inferno Bazooka at everything he saw. Laying waste to whatever Dark Falz could throw at him. Simpler times. Has it really been 25 years?

OK, #PhantomsFriday time. Now I'm in my mid 40's, so the version of ghost hunting that first got my attention was definitely low resolution, found footage looking web 1.0 personal website media. It's all we had. If you weren't there, this quick compilation definitely captures that vibe so hard.

So it's #ForteanFriday again. I have a soft spot for researchers who actually road trip to the places they are covering, and Northern Introvert definitely gets his boots muddy when chasing a tale. The channel is mostly local history, though when he goes folkloric, he goes all in.

Little late to the party on this one but fun fact: outside of my occult interests I am also big into both Analogue Horror and Godzilla. So this ticks all the boxes for me. Better yet, there's no King Kong in sight anywhere along the way. Really can't stand that damn dirty ape, if I'm honest.
