I LOVE Alysa winning because she exemplifies EVERYTHING abusers in this sport tell their students 'you will fail if I let you-'. Alysa didn't, she won the fucking OLYMPICS by choosing when, where, how, and why she does everything. No starvation dieting, no 15 hour training days, just HER choices.

AND when she was 13-14, so many people in the US were just salivating to push her onto the russian track. they saw eteri's results and wanted alysa to be "our" eteri girl, doing quads and pushing herself to win the olympics at 16 and retire broken. and instead she won healthy and at 20!
