I've read most of the scholarship about US policing since the early 20th century. What you learn from this is that violence is inherent. You cannot "separate" out violence from policing. Police in the U.S. are violence workers.

At issue is evidence suppressed by the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and Office of the Inspector General that the OIG referred at least four other Hinton lab employees for criminal prosecution to the AGO.

For years, officials claimed chemist Annie Dookhan was the sole bad actor at the Hinton crime lab, but lawyers say evidence points to widespread wrongdoing. In March, hearings will begin at Middlesex Superior Court that could result in hundreds of thousands more drug convictions being thrown out.
