In Illinois, a bill called the RIFL Act would shift some of the financial burden of gun violence from victims and taxpayers back onto the industry that profits from the product. Think of it as workers’ comp, but for gun injuries and deaths.

We couldn’t possibly be in a worse information environment for what’s happening. Which is probably, in part, why it’s happening.

People who expect bad policy to easily translate into electoral losses for the GOP need to contend with the information environment that is increasingly GOP-friendly. It’s a very different dynamic from what Democrats face, and even from a few years ago.
