Today, extremists on the House Appropriations Committee voted to put guns back in the hands of domestic abusers, unleash more untraceable ghost guns into our communities, and hide which gun dealers are breaking the law. This isn’t safety. It’s the gun lobby dictating federal law out in the open.

It was great to see @thisisourlane.org Advisory Council member @robincogan.bsky.social recently on NBC News. Robin Cogan is a phenomenal and relentless champion for the health and safety of every child. Our country is better for her advocacy.

You can’t flood America with more guns, weaken enforcement, and expect families to be safer. When the ATF stops holding irresponsible gun dealers accountable, crime guns don’t just disappear. Letting dealers who break the law stay in business only fuels gun violence.

The FBI Director just shared that he believes AI is powerful enough to detect and stop mass shooters. And now we see that the FSU shooter used AI before killing 2 people. That should be a wake-up call. Congress must take seriously the possibility that AI systems can escalate dangerous behavior.

I’m thinking about Renee Good’s children. There was a missing voice, a missing laugh, a missing hug yesterday. Renee should be here. She should be watching her children grow up. Accountability matters.

This Mother’s Day, I’m grateful for my daughters, who are my world, and my own mom, who shaped me into an organizer and activist at an early age. But for too many mothers and too many children, today is heavy. They are missing a loved one stolen by gun violence. We must act in their honor.

Ahmaud Arbery should be celebrating his 32nd birthday today. Yet in 2020, he was killed in a racially motivated shooting while in his neighborhood. We #HonorWithAction by demanding systemic change to address racism, violence, and an end to "kill first, ask questions later" gun culture.

This administration wants to rush $400 million for a ballroom, but when it comes to protecting the public from gun violence, suddenly there are a myriad of excuses. This is a deliberate choice about whose safety matters and whose does not.

Creating a safer America free of gun violence isn't about politics or partisanship; it’s about saving lives.

Saturday’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner should be a wake-up call. As I shared with @latimes.com, we can’t respond by turning public life into a fortress. Most people don’t have that level of protection & we shouldn’t have to barricade our leaders or our kids just to stay safe.

Trump thinks a new White House ballroom is a solution to prevent gun violence. What about for the rest of us? Guns kill 100 people in America every single day. Already in 2026, about 7k people have been shot and injured. A White House ballroom won't make us safer.

The U.S. has always accepted more political violence than similar democracies. Threats to Congress have doubled since 2022. But we cannot stop at condemning political violence alone. Time and time again, there is one thing at the root of these horrific acts: our nation's easy access to firearms.

It is not lost on me that tonight's WHCD is at the same hotel where White House Press Secretary Jim Brady was shot in the attempted assassination of President Reagan. Until recently, Reagan was the last president to be shot in an assassination attempt.

13 lives were taken from us in Columbine in Littleton, #CO 27 years ago. Another victim died from her injuries in 2025. For 27 years, these families and this entire community have carried grief and advocacy hand-in-hand, fighting for a safer America. Remember them today and honor them with action.

8 children murdered in Shreveport. There are no words. 2 years ago, #LA lawmakers voted down an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law that could have allowed the shooter’s family to intervene on the “dark thoughts” he expressed before it was too late. This isn’t just grief, it’s fury.
