My J6 hot take is that democracy wasn't on the brink that day, and the attack on the Capitol was actually an enormous miscalculation by the right-wing militant movement that led to their disaggregation and decline in the following years.

Obviously this is easy to say with the benefit of hindsight, but J6 ended up being a massive setback for fascist militants because they went head-to-head with the state instead of battling antifascists. Hard to say of course whether that could have been predicted though
