Someone asked me earlier why I don’t do more than AI, and the answer is that every time I look deeper into AI I see more evidence that this is a massive, unbelievable failure, propped up by webs of debt and ignorance, private capital fully believes there’s massive AI demand that does not exist.

Every time a reactionary ‘taboo-breaker’ becomes a free speech icon/martyr, sacralisation demands that their critics are fired, silenced, threatened, purged. This gets called hypocrisy, but that would require free speech be a coherent idea, rather than the technology of power it’s always been.

Ireland's anti-trans movement is insane even by the standards of anti-trans movements because genuinely nobody gives a fuck outside of a few literal nazis and also newspaper opinion writers, and the latter are very upset that the nazis are the only other people who care and constantly whine about it

Among all the elements of the militarist moment, it’s worth underlining that Von Der Leyen, Kallas, Rutte etc are profoundly dangerous actors with no democratic mandate for launching an arms race funded through deepened austerity.
