Still very preliminary, but on top of everything else, I ran a separate survey on the "Major Leagues" era of professional baseball from 1876 to 1901, when the AL declared itself a major league, just a few years (two, to be precise) before they formed the National Baseball Commission. Boy howdy.

So, I am working on this league expansion survey project and I am doing the MLB right now. This was basically me for the first 20 years with the NL-AA/UA/PL nonsense and then the 1961 expansion where THE US CONGRESS demanded they put a franchise back in DC after the Senators moved to MN:
