Marco Jansen's return to the Washington Freedom has been confirmed for MLC 2026. The team (wisely) retained him for 2025 despite international commitments keeping him away. The Freedom's 2024 title-winning pace unit of Jansen, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Lockie Ferguson is reunited for 2026.

The San Francisco Unicorns have signed Ravichandran Ashwin for 2026, the first former Indian national teamer to play in MLC. He was supposed to play in the Big Bash League over the winter but withdrew due to injury. At 39, he's a fraction of the player he once was, but he can put butts in seats.

The league has built a good product on the field, but the franchises seem to have wildly different visions of what the league should look like or how it should invest in the sport's future here. 2026 is really starting to feel like the Year of the Skeptic in American cricket.

ACE CEO Johnny Grave confirmed yesterday on social media that the LA Knight Riders' new home in Pomona will have a permanent pitch square with 8 pitches and practice space. It is expected to be ready for MLC 2026. That's great news, but they'd better get on it if they're playing there in July!

I 100% agree with the premise here but disagree with the conclusion. We are past the point where this can be done quietly because of the nationalist politics involved, and the longer the other boards wait to take this issue head-on, the more costly and damaging it will be to the game as a whole.

100% agree with this. My conclusion from reading it was that everyone from Rob Key down should be tossed out on their ear. I knew that already based on performance, but telling a player "you care too much" is a clear sign you are not in a sport for the right reasons.
