I love that the Bookit program is back, but I desperately want these sorts of programs to include secondary students. They are the hardest group to get to read. And this is part of the reason or literacy rates are so low. Older kids deserve recognition too!

In other news, during a meeting yesterday with my humanities ed committee, the assistant dean told me he volunteered me to offer writing advice/editing a document that’s getting updated in our college of ed. Because I call out archaic and racist language. Love that I’m known for this now. 😂

Well. I’m already crying. I have been dealing with some health and family crises this semester, especially lately. I only told my chair and a few close colleagues. Even without knowing the details, the department came together to send me a gift and encouragement. 😭💜

Rural Kentucky is getting $52 million for water system improvements thanks to Governor Andy Beshear. Nearly half of that is going to Martin County, which has faced water challenges for years. Clean water should not be something rural Kentuckians have to fight for.

To finish out the semester, I need to: -finish grading for one class -attend commencement on Saturday morning -attend a meeting next week (Zoom) So close!
