I know it's absolutely a systemic action and I hate that it's happening, but I am really feeling the weight of repeatedly losing communities I'm part of and having to find/rebuild new ones over the last decade+, both in real life spaces and online.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

LRP: forcing myself to not use black or straight up grey scale in my digital colors or when I'm painting traditionally was such a game changer. You can mix CMY to make a broad range of colors and values and you can mix in white as needed to stretch that value range way further. So fun 💖

best advice i have for shading is try and use a different color rather than black or a darker shade of the same color and see where it takes you!
