over the last ~20 years the applied theorist corps in econ has been hollowed out. now ~everyone is doing causal inference. good thing big policy changes with general equilibrium effects rarely happen and academic econ can stay "policy relevant"

I'm very happy that in the 4th year of leading my research group, I have managed to spend less than 50% of my time on admin things. To be fair, for me this category is the catch-all category for everything not related to specific goals. Still good to reduce this chunk 🏄

Question for Quarto pros: I render to PDF using Latex. Metadata from the graph pdfs generated says that my Mac produces graph PDFs using pdfTex. On my coauthor Windows machine, it produces the PDFs using R. They are different in size in the final output. Any ideas on how to consolidate this?
