My daughter's school instituted a no-phone policy this year—she loves it. However, the students are on their school-issued iPads all day long. And those iPads deliver push notifications anytime they receive a grade: homework, tests, papers, etc. This stresses her the F out.

One annoying thing about the "run the government like a business" guys is that they also are terrible at running businesses. I run my podcast "like a business" in the sense that things are made to a high quality and shipped on time, but it seems their only version of "good business" is "layoffs"

While certainly not the biggest consequence of our current crises, it's a weird time to be an autistic person who consumes news analysis. Talking about Musk & his minions often involves highlighting traits/behaviors that are autistically coded (this was also true during the SBF/FTX saga).

This @michellegoldberg.bsky.social column is a great companion to what I wrote yesterday. The attack on higher ed is an attack on class (with it, women/queer/BIPOC/etc) AND an attack on knowledge/ways of knowing. They don't like what's taught—but they REALLY don't like the wrong people learning it.

That's just drawing attention to their cruelty (and stupidity). (Not the NPS—the people forcing the changes.)
