There's a serious flaw in constitutional interpretation that people ignore that amendments are _amendments_. The Fifth Amendment (&c.) isn't a footnote to the Constitution. It changed what Article II means, if it ever meant that. The fact that it was only four years later is irrelevant.

This is why we're never getting out of this. The HoUSe of Lords care about their colleagues more than the country. No matter how many times they're shamed for their support or impugned and threatened by the regime. There is no opposition party.

It's a good night to remember that the 117th Congress could have immunized naturalized citizens from denaturalization over de minimis errors instead of acting like the problem was completely over. The immigrant community knew this was inevitable, but Congress sat on their hands like they always do.

Immigration hearings are supposed to be public, by regulation. There are exceptions, but they can't be applied generally to all matters. And only IJs can make them; court staff don't have that ability. Refusal to admit the public is agency action subject to APA suit by any aggrieved observer.
