It's a gutsy position to be sure. I know I wouldn't want to be the tallest Israeli target around when the missiles are flying.

New from me at
@documentedny.bsky.social
: New Trump plan: stop processing work permits for asylum-seekers until the asylum application backlog goes down. But they’re not gonna put more people on fixing that backlog. Which they estimate could take 173 YEARS.

Can prison phones call emergency lines without the price-gouging call rates? On the one hand, I think that's required for any connected phone. On the other hand, where is the profit in that?

Summary: You can defend against removal for prior misrepresentation with a waiver. The waiver is easier than a fraud waiver at admission: it doesn't require hardship and allows broader qualifying relatives, like children.

There wasn't enough going on, so the BIA just eliminated removal defense fraud waivers for a massive class of people.

I had to doublecheck and, yes, the CEO of CoreCivic is Patrick Swindle. Henceforth, all contracts for the concentration camps shall be known as "Swindle swindles." Please contact your elected representatives and demand they use this updated terminology at every opportunity.

I first wrote about ICE's use of ruses and misrepresentations — which are explicitly recommended in their training manuals — almost eight years ago. This sounds like a particularly bold implementation but this has been part of their toolkit for a long time

This analogy is absurd. Voting is _already_ decidedly safer than buying beer. I don't need to be on a preäpproved list to buy beer. I'm not assigned to a single bar that's the only place I can buy it. And they don't keep a ledger of everyone who drank that day so they can't buy beer a second time.

The correct response is, WTF is a fourth-generation immigrant? The fourth consecutive generation to immigrate? Has there ever been such a person in the history of the country? We _can_ refer to a fourth-generation American because _every_ succeeding generation is one. But not to them.

There's a certain efficiency in knowing that accepting the appointment is itself an impeachable offense regardless of who it is. Though since impeachment is a dead letter, it's just going to have to be a jurisdiction-stripping provision later.
