Solitude builds an armoured fortress. It carves spiralling columns and lays polished floors. It fills the room with haunting music. Maddening music. It plants sumac and ivy and devoures every inch of the empty, unused. Finally, it protects nothing but itself. Solitude by solitude for solitude.

And all of them flash before me like abandoned stations Bearing a past well ridden

Tomorrow, I'm going on a journey that I know will change me. The transformation is not optional. But sitting in my bed, with a great book on my lap, I only hope whoever I might become can once again return to this place. The rain taps on my window. It is good here.

I carry the shame of being unused. My mind sought tools to build a kinder world. I painted a portrait of the weary stranger, so the lonely can recognise a friend in need. I didn't think that portraits will become redundant like coins.

Tonight, I was overcome with profound grief. I did not know what I've lost, just that I had it, and without it, I'm no longer whole. As the morning arived, the feeling subsided, but it left me with this lingering doubt.

What is a dark pattern?

I don't want to be soothed when the situation is dire. I don't want to be distracted when the stakes are high. Perhaps there's no better way, but I'd rather find that out for myself. A future I fear is still better than perpetual timelessness.

I have often thought how much more remarkable it is that bronze age and iron age people could refine and work metals than that 20th century people were able to travel to the moon.

Life happens slowly. Things unravel as threads untangle. The heavy separates from the light. Step by step a journey is taken. Wounds open in a second but needs many to close. A body needs a lifetime to properly break down. #thought #philosophy
