what i find sometimes irritating is the way that slothcast (and other scene techbros) can conduct themselves that feel very miscalibrated with the values of the scene they enjoy so much, like using AI, or trying to build a ""product"", or approaching friendships with artists like it's networking.

to be clear, i think sanctum is cool and i think it's really cool that there's an opportunity for my talented peers to be monetarily supported so they can truly put their all into their work. money is not the problem, artists should be able to support themselves and pour their all into their art.

"guy with a ton of money discovers cool shit but doesn't get it b/c his capital alienates him from being a normal person" is a type of guy going back to the feudal ages, and it will exist as long as capitalism does. if you really love the art, sponsor cool artists to pursue their passions instead.
