While B.C. has avoided catastrophe of 2021, Washington State currently dealing with historic flooding. In Sumas, a border town just south of Abbotsford, “probably 100 per cent” of the downtown is under water, Mayor Bruce Bosch said in an interview. “It’s looking like close to the ’21 flood.”

It's official. 2025 is now the third worst wildfire year on record in Canada. A study from 2018 examining fire-regime changes in Canada over the prior 57 years showed the fire season had been starting approximately one week earlier and ending one week later. Probably longer now.
