Things are apocalyptic for science in the US. It might not seem that way to everyone because many academic scientists have tenure and get to keep their jobs (for now), and most grants last three years, so many scientists still have funding. But it's going to get way worse.

It is really too bad the Sacramento Pikeminnow, and its relative the Northern Pikeminnow, are blamed for declining Salmon populations. On the West Coast, Salmon and Pikeminnow are clearly co-evolved. Salmon are declining primarily because of habitat issues.

At ever stage of my career, undergrad to Professor, I (unknowingly) had to work with harassers and misogynists that were known to others to be awful. The harm caused to young female scientists continues without consequence or accountability. Turns out it’s not a “leaky pipe” it’s a damn fire hose.
