Whenever we slept over at my grandparents' house, my cousins and I would make fun of my grandma for vacuuming the house at 6am. Now, in my 50s, I understand that 1) menopausal women live on their own time. We live outside of time. 2) We have to get shit done and we don't care.

People who say "you can't possibly read everything you cite" are saying a lot about themselves, IMO. It doesn't have to be a heavy lift. I spend about half an hour a day processing new-to-me papers by organizing them in my reference managers & adding topical tags so I can create bibliographies.
