Blue: purity, joy, blissful ignorance before meeting Victor's depravity: the uncle, the brother, the bride all wore blue at first. The uncle, a scheming man profiting from death, wears a fox stole. Sex is killing him, yet his medicine is in a (pristine) ivory handle sculped as a voluptuous woman.

(The fox stole is red, like his niece's hair. He loves her.) The Gorgon was violated and punished by it. By no fault of her own, she is a monster, and she was killed by an obnoxious man who gave her a mirror. Victor is often in mirrors: he's not a man, he's an idea, and Elizabeth despises ideas.

The Gorgon dominates the lab, a reminder of the Creature's innocence and the Creator's refusal to face his own reflection. The tower is a spine. Electrical impulse down the hollow of bone where is the medula towards the heart. The Creature is kept in the bowel, ready to be expelled.

William, so bright, becomes paler and muted in browns, so does the uncle. Elizabeth loses the blue, but she has a shine of her own: her choking red rosary proving her love and entrapment to her time, and still her clothes bringing color to everyone's lives. Her wedding dress is a mayfly.
