Check out a few of my favorite maps from the latest Mechanized Body playtests. Maps ranges from 10x10 up to 10x20. I built these for a mix of operations, including VIP protection, asset destruction, and escape. Getting everything to fit into a tight, meaningful footprint has been challenging.

Skycrest city WIP I think the ramp needs to be longer and more gentle, but space travel requires sacrifice and balls of steel. Also I draw this initially in pencil and it turned into a nightmare trying to alter it hehe

Messing around with Foundry VTT to build some gameplay examples for the playtest doc. This walkthrough covers the rules for making successive attacks with the same weapon. I dig that Foundry works so well for this. I thought about using Inkarnate, but having the built-in dice roller is a plus."

Lets do a rundown on map design as it relates to game development. Most folks know I really believe in a good map. If you have played any of my games, whether Lancer or my in development game Mechanized Body, you know I put effort into map design, not to a hyper meticulous degree, but enough. (1/16)

Later today(?) I'll get around to doing a longer form post on the evolution of Mechanized Body's map design from where the game started 2ish years ago to where it's at now. I feel like designers may find it useful, if not, just neat in seeing how the game's development impacted its maps.

we've managed to source an addon for our FoundryVTT environment that lets us test grid inventory management! going forward, we'll have a way better idea of how it works.

The next player build i'll highlight is that of our Griot player. Manufactured by MalDee, the MB features a enhanced cockpit system that enables its pilot to sense the emotions of friends and foes on the battlefield. In the lore, Griot pilots hold trauma and use it to claim victory.

Taking a moment here to showoff one our players builds, their Garuda. The mech is a MB that specializes in rapid speed- the faster it moves, less its likely to be hit. Judging from their Pilot Deck, I'd say she's leaning hard into that design ethos.

Tonight, during a interesting turn of events- a player in my upcoming campaign for Mechanized Body asked me if the character sheet could plug into Foundry. For some reason i just thought it couldn't, but today it clicked in my head to see if it could. Dear god it does! Praise be to playtester Qs!

We just updated the working character sheet for Mechanized Body. It now includes all the latest card text and rulings, along with some quality-of-life features, like this deck-list 'exporter.' It’s an 'exporter' in the sense that you can screenshot it. ;) Game design is a wacky experiment!

We just made a (much needed) massive update to the gameplay content to acompany some very postitive gameplay changes in the last week. In these changes the card game element to the game has really congealed for the player side options - and there's a really big indication of this..

Round 2 of our tests with the core system changes and it worked well! Players stood strong, didn't take a lot damage due to the NPC selection but things were still tense. Wild that this one rule change, one we somehow never locked in, cut out most of the awkwardness that was sitting in the game.

It was nice to get some Mechanized Body playtesting in today. Rn we're testing a change to the action economy. Standard actions like Attacking are now perma-cards. You discard a pilot card to use them. Basically everything costs a cards now, cept for moving.
