Finally got around to finishing Tau Zero and while I can't help but admire the novel's commitment to the bit of having the characters double down every time something goes wrong, it is somewhat marred by relentless misogyny and weird attitudes to social hierarchy throughout

On top of everything else, the flare messed up the reaction control circuitry. The damn computer only made the spin worse until we managed to shut down the nav system. Six hours of this. I hate these walls that are ceilings that are floors that are walls again. I want to paint them with my guts.
