This weekend seems to be mostly about sleep for me. Trying to get ye olde parasympathetic nervous system to do its thing. I want to get back to my coursework, too, which I basically threw out the window this week. No way my brain was in a state to retain anything new. My hippocampus was all SKREEE!

One way to tell that I’m having a brain fog sort of day after a migraine is that I forgot to take my morning meds until now. (And yeah, the headache from the migraine begat another migraine. Times do be stressful!) Time to start doing meds when I feed my cat, apparently.

Last year around now, one of my cats was succumbing to congestive heart failure despite meds. I miss him and his pair-bonded friend, who had a neuro issue take her around the same time two years before. I’m probably also feeling a bit of that now. Both got into their 20s. My current cat is 16.

As I expected, last night’s lack of sleep has me taking my migraine med now even though I tried to nap it away. Also, there’s a weird period of time after major life shake-ups where I wake up expecting the old world and it takes a moment or two for the new one to impose itself on me. Liminal space.

Sad to say I was one of the many,many folks impacted today. 14 years is an unreal amount of time to have contributed to what has endored as one of the great MMOs over the years. In a time when everyone was making a play for this space, we persevered through it all and I couldn’t be more proud.

I’ve also been impacted. I’m proud as hell of the work I did starting our union. I have nothing but love for the people I worked with. I’m still in shock, going through a range of emotions. Brushing up my resume now but damn, damn this sucks.

It’s always weird to me when my intellect knows a thing for awhile before my emotions catch up. I don’t necessarily feel better when that happens. In fact, I’ll likely feel worse for a bit until I can grieve the loss of what my emotions wanted to believe was still true.

Where to start? After 14+ amazing years of doing truly epic work on the beloved Elder Scrolls franchise (Elder Scrolls Online in specific), today I was among the way-too-large number of employees let go for strategic business reasons. Not sure what's next, but I suppose I'll think of something.

It’s stormy! Loving it. Nature’s fireworks don’t disturb my cat nearly as much as the ones neighbors set off. I do love fireworks, but have discovered I like others to set them off. And I’d prefer to travel to see them done professionally.

Been chilling today with the Zeal of Zenithar event, Pokopia, and Cozy Cleaning. Also doing a classic MacGyver marathon because I realized I did not watch that series regularly.

Do I sleep in more today or get up and do my normal day off routines? I have had Code Red already, but I’m still sleepy, so it might be more sleep. (Granted, more sleep with caffeine making it less useful in certain ways.)
