LVFC is less proof about anything vibes based and more that: big ass cold corporate tower hotels suck for social time, and a big open space where you can see everyone’s rooms and communal spaces and shit is better in every way

For most American hotel cons, everything about them is so liminal that you could hotswap anything out like-for-like without issue -- including the attendees. You could invite any of your friends to attend the average con and it wouldn't fundamentally change the thing. It absolutely would at LVFC.

At burning man, we call this: Don’t be an observer/consumer, be a participant.

LVFC isn’t for those who just wanna reap the benefits of socializing. It’s not for those who sit on the sidelines and wait to be yanked in. Get those needs fulfilled at other cons.

Four days of seeing a furry village function, THRIVE even, off the efforts of so many hosts, parties, cooks, craftspeople and exhibition artists is a peek into a dream. It’s so amazing BECAUSE it’s true WORK for everyone to make it so.

I’ll try to word it carefully: LVFC is the best con in America. I’ve been to 40 cons and it’s the best one. But Please do not go if you are not generous in spirit, self-sufficient, and community-oriented. You’re wasting space in a beautiful thing if you go only looking to receive entertainment.

I'm a huge fan of the setting, the staff, the layout at AP, the local laws... But really, all that ancillary stuff just provided a backdrop at LVFC for the real magic: passion and care and love for the community painstakingly and freely given by other furries. Can't overstate how awesome that was.
