I think a lot of people are refusing to entertain this observation. But I hope they sit with it, intentionally or otherwise. I hope it stays with them long after they're written the angry QT or reply, and that it tugs at them just a little. Because paying attention right now is important.

On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.

There is a video out this morning showing ICE agents wrestling a man onto the ground in Minneapolis and then shooting him. I counted twelve shots. It looks like two ICE agents fired at the man. He was wrestled to the ground and beaten by approximately 6 ICE agents before being shot.

Star Tribune is reporting this as well now, multiple shots in the chest.

They are executing unarmed people in the streets for trying to protect their neighbors with the full support of the federal government.

Only a matter of time before the new ICE murder video makes its way to this platform, strongly recommend you prepare accordingly. Might be a day to log off entirely.

Really tried to give this candidate a fair shake. The quote below in context is not as bad as it sounds, but there did come across a real sense of entitlement. Not a whole lot of substance. A lot of her platform would be more relevant in a City Council race.

The argument against ICE isn't an especially difficult one to make politically in this moment. The issue is that people who substantively disagree with abolishing ICE prefer having a proxy fight about strategy to discussing that stance. Many such cases.

Not crazy, but you have to win as many constituencies as you can. Affordability is not the top issue for every voter. And some voters are moved more by emotional and moral appeals than by rational self interest.

Democrats are in the role of the French leaders who surrendered to the Nazis and fled. They don't understand that the entire world and all their voters are looking for a de Gaulle, not because they think he would instantly defeat Trump, but because at least he's on the right side.

Democrats believe the whole world should be looking at them and feeling sorry for them and understanding that there is nothing they can do and they're better off keeping their heads down and staying quiet, because they are pathetic, they are weak, they are cowards.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
