I think terminology needs to be adjusted, the Gestapo, which was part of the SS, was a very small thing, maybe 1000 total in it. Their role was more investigative than anything else. ICE is much more aligned currently with the SA than anything else right now. They clearly want to go full SS. IMO

Just finished reading BLITZED: DRUGS IN THE THIRD REICH by Norman Ohler. It is a great read and also discusses many aspects that aren't fully discussed in books about the period. Also the massive amount of drugs that fueled the entire Third Reich is just insane. Highly recommend reading it.
