Been reading Blades '68 and can I say I'm way more impressed than I thought I'd be! There is a ridiculous amount of GM support here, and it takes some conceits that I might do by instinct when running games and polishes them up and puts them in easily digestible steps, in really interesting ways.

A friend asked me to run some Spell and Blade for him, so that's what I've been doing Monday Nights. Due to logistics we had to skip last week at the last minute, so he took the time to instead write a song about the group's exploits so far. He performed it yesterday. And it was amazing.

I'll try! A key thing in planetary survival stories (Scavenger's Reign, or Subnautica for ex.) is the characters learning and observing their surroundings. Is this part of the alien landscape wondrous, or is it hazardous, or both? 1/4

The only problem I have with The Pitt is the fact that we don't have a Pitt: Night Shift show already. No shade on The Pitt (though it's very heavy this season), but the night shift cast has so much charm and chemistry.

TTRPG systems, at their core, are frameworks of creative restraints, posing imaginary exercises you wouldn't undertake otherwise. House-ruling games out the gate avoids the confrontation of expectations & robs you the opportunity of switching frameworks, making you default into a "standard game".

Somehow I'm not super shocked where I fall! This is a cool site (bluesky-map.theo.io) as much for seeing where you fall in clusters of interest, as to see which groups are close/related. Color me surprised that football (aka soccer) is so close to the TTRPG space — I wonder where the overlap is?

I have been a huge #SWoM fan for a decade now. I remember chasing down Eppy to play some early versions at Gencon and Metatopia back in the day, and being able to get a standalone copy is a real treat. It's a game that stretches my creative muscles, and helps me be a better player.

Apparently I'm a death wizard (notably not a necromancer)? I can work with that. It's not entirely off-brand for me.

Last Night's Spell and Blade playtest: The party comes back together after a half year apart. They are called together by the cursetouched hunter, who is asking them to help her investigate some Ancient ruins she knows about from her days as a bandit.

My cats have a meaow that means "something is wrong, please fix". Usually this leads to an empty bowl, or a toy stuck somewhere, or a door closed when it shouldn't be. They're also very routine driven. Today, one of them made the meaow and led me to a sun spot.

I realized a while ago, that I can only personally "play to find out" (aka 'Choose your Bruce Willis' as it's put in this thread) for the most part. The games where I know the ending give me this urge to say "ok let's assume we're there now, because we will be, so what happens next?"

Sometimes writing GM rules can be super tricky. For context I'm working on Spell and Blade (Folk Fantasy FitD aimed at longer term play). One of the bigger elements of it is the concept of Encounters. Going on adventures means traveling through the world and exploring. #SnB #ttrpg

This is actually pretty important! We tried to do something like this with the long form examples in Band of Blades where we write it in "table dialogue" format, but video is faster and more accessible to many.
