JWM Turner works on display at Scottish National Gallery on The Mound, Edinburgh. These are only ever on display in January, each year. This was the first time I have seen them in this new gallery setting. So much more accessible, than in years past. It was great to see them.

Yesterday, I finished reading Western Lane by @chetnamaroo.bsky.social Today has kicked off with Michiko Aoyama’s The Healing Hippo of Hinode Park. If these are markers for contemporary literature, every book has to have a boy running in the mountains. No bad thing, given these two examples.

Tender, humane, & it is read. @chetnamaroo.bsky.social writes a beautiful, quiet story. @john-self.bsky.social is quoted, saying “It is a novel that says a lot without making lots of noise, that speaks volumes on family and grief without assuming that the reader needs everything to be spelled out.”
