If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks canāt be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until theyāre 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Interestingly, in Loper Bright vs Raimondo, the conservative majority on SCOTUS ruled just last year that the judiciary can in fact overrule regulatory decisions made by the executive branch especially when those decisions are not specified by Congress.

Brief impoundment backgrounder: The Constitution gives Congress the power of the purse. Money that Congress appropriates generally must be spent. This wasnāt a big issue until Nixon, who tried to (unconstitutionally) restrict appropriated funding for lots of things and claimed the right to do so.
