Besides meaning liquid mud, the etymology of the word “slop” literally comes from old english for “(cow) dung”, so it feels like an appropriate modern day re-usage for bullshit.

The way the word “slop” has re-entered the lexicon as a general purpose word describing “someone’s made-up bullshit that’s being forced on people” (even outside of AI contexts) is good because it feels like we didn’t have a simple way to point out how common that is aside from domain-specific jargon

An RQ&R should be a moral obligation to review the resubmit paper. Take less reviews, do it better.

I'm both an author & an associate editor & in both roles a hill on which I will die is that attaching a new reviewer at R&R is bad practice at best & often unfair. That said, given how often original reviewers refuse to review a R&R (no shade), editors are often stuck with how to evaluate a R&R.
