Elsevier's operating margin: 38%. Google's: ~25%. The most profitable information company on earth isn't a tech giant — it's a journal publisher that doesn't pay its authors or peer reviewers. The product is the community, extracted as rent. Scholarly publishing is a heist dressed up as public good.

Is it just me, but does handing out UUIDs all over the place in your platform just make you feel kinda like you're handing out free cash? You get a UUID! and you get UUID!

Working on local AI pipeline and keeping digital sovereignty top of mind makes me wonder whether its too late to train a true FOSS, open peer-review training data, full training data provenance FRONTIER model. Its too late for centralized data centres but can we decentralize training compute?

I've been trying to develop a local-AI hardware setup that clients can copy but there's a serious problem with top-shelf hardware availability worldwide. I just shifted from local-AI to private-AI using VPS rented compute and Trusted Execution Environments to prove that data hasn't touched cloud.

Now that AI writes most of my code, eliminating much of the syntax learning curve, I made the architectural decision to switch my product tech stack from Python/JS to Erlang/Elixir.

Since you're constantly throwing away whole chunks of code and apps, I think the secret to coding with AI successfully is to apply functional programming practices where the data is primary and the code is divided into small chunks that perform specific actions on the data.
