wrote up some of my thoughts on the potential of AT Proto / ATmosphere apps after building a chess app fully on protocol. feeling bullish on niche/long-tail apps that couldn't have existed before this :)

We need everyone to wake up to how fragile our shared commons are. We can't wait until we drown in security incidents and more projects close down, using them as excuses. If you're in a position to help (every company is), check who you depend on and need support (everyone), and fund them.

Nice article. The Atmosphere however is playing a “yes and” game. Absolutely social for groups and communities! But the structure here means we are aiming for _all_ apps, not just the social ones. Especially when permissioned data becomes available.

Been playing around with and finalizing this chess experiment over the past few weeks, ended up being a great way to dig into atproto development. If you give it a go and let me know if you have any issues, i'll be continuing to extend it with more features
