All 3 NYC Library Systems now have asks that people send a letter to the City Council calling for increased funding. In some uninformed quarters, people are claiming that our public libraries are "fully funded" when in actuality they are slated for lower funding than last year in real dollars.

It’s no big surprise that Trump’s DOJ is deleting all of the January 6th press releases from its website. Here’s the thing: I downloaded all of them in Feb. 2025 (that’s right, more than a year ago) suspecting that they’d do just that. And we’re working to post them all online, as are others.

I've gotten some really lovely stories about encounters folks have had with other people as a result of displaying merch they got from me, but this immediately jumped to the top of the list of my favorite ones.

I always appreciate Khury and Kelly for giving us a realistic analysis of the challenges we face while also not making me feel despondent — instead, oftentimes actively hopeful! — about our ability to confront them.

"...fascism is a cultural project. [ ] It is a cultural project of dehumanization and disposal. So we need a cultural project of our own, rooted in a proliferating sense of empathy and solidarity. One that insists that we are all worth caring for and fighting for." We are ALL worth fighting for.

This episode feels particularly important to me. Even though I lived through a lot of it, I found the history of US empire, war, and the analysis of our current wars, and the connections of it all, very helpful.

People in the US really need to pay attention to what's happening with Palestine Action in the UK. Even if we get out from under Trump, we should expect to see these tactics deployed in the US, unless something truly transformative happens.

Yup. Your job as regular person is not to parse whether particular policies are 'realistic' or 'possible.' You are supposed to actually demand what you need to live a dignified life.

I see some people online who seem to really want Obama "to speak up more" etc... but my point is and has been that he's deeply OUT OF TOUCH. Which Democratic electeds are "talking to people like a college seminar?" Name names. His comments are just another complaint about "the groups." Sad!

Early in the pandemic, there were people with significant resources who reached out to me to ask for advice about where to donate their money. There isn't much I miss about those days, but I miss the generosity that was in the air, and people with resources being eager to hear how they could help.

I put this on while I was making up some Trekkies Against Fascism buttons. Really recommend giving it a listen. The fascistic backlash we're experiencing is a reaction by the losing side in a *massive* cultural shift over the last 60 years and even in the last 20. It's encouraging to remember.

An inspiration...

The Boys has the most pointed anti-Nazi, anti-Trump storytelling on TV, and sadly, you just can't go around recommending it to just anyone, because if they can sit still for the ultra-violence and... other stuff... they are probably already watching.

This was such a lovely reminder this morning that the good people have done actually did matter, and that hope is not misguided but necessary.
