Amid these ICE raids, something folks should understand about the Chicago suburbs is that a lot of stereotypes about the era of white flight from the city do not apply. A lot of these folks were priced out of Chicago and many commute to work here. They are part of the same social fabric.

Do not assume that everything they set out to do is inevitable. They have been successfully fought on multiple fronts, from courtroom wins that have actually stuck to city and state governments that haven't backed down, to activists in the streets organizing against their violence.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Yet the Korean workers are criminalized by the feds.

plenty of things going against the right globally: Bolsonaro's conviction in Brazil, the defeat of the right wing in Norway's election, the student strikes and Saba Saba protests in Kenya (brutal as the repression there was), the EU's von der Leyen pursuing sanctions and trade suspension for Israel

praise for Kirk from liberal pundits is one of the clearest distillations of how ill-equipped they are for this fascist moment, & how devoted they are to a West Wing fantasy of a respectable right/conservative movement that does not exist, and which - like Kirk - almost never operates in good faith

I have been BEGGING providers & institutions targeted by these subpoenas FOR MONTHS to share info & collaborate on a collective defense & advocacy groups to strongly encourage & support them in doing do. That didn’t happen & instead institutions are just going offline citing “legal environment”

I think a disorienting thing is that the generally accepted definitions of violence, and who matters when it happens, mostly follows the norms of the right and is used to scold everyone to the left of centrists, when by any other definition the right spends most of its time cultivating violence.

For folks noting the hypocrisy of the GOP/Right/MAGA/T folks as they publicly abhor "political violence" while enabling it against those they dislike at every opportunity: a better use of your time would be joining efforts to fight these fascists, tooth and nail. Political violence is their fuel.
