I've read most of the scholarship about US policing since the early 20th century. What you learn from this is that violence is inherent. You cannot "separate" out violence from policing. Police in the U.S. are violence workers.

The piss-poor training and lowered standards aren't the cause of ICE and CBP violence, but the result.

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

We know the foundation of the Right/MAGA is an ever-strengthening mix of racism, misogyny, vengeful and authoritarian Christianity, and oligarchy. So this fits perfectly. Arguments about hypocrisy are useless; they almost always have been.

Can you accept - even w/o agreeing with all our positions - that Black people know profound truths about this country that are not on Schoolhouse Rock? Now that the tactics they’ve used in our communities are becoming national policy, are you ready to concede that you need our “expertise” as well?
