Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

This would ban ANY state from making laws to regulate the use of genAI for TEN YEARS. That includes deepfakes for malicious purposes like misinformation or revenge. Please call your reps throughout this week to urge them to fight this. Get four other people you know to do the same. FIGHT THIS.

🚨 BOOM: In a move designed to increase opportunity for people experiencing homelessness, Spokane has become the first city in the entire country to ban employers from asking for an applicant’s permanent address.

I am begging my fellow librarians to just stop. Stop it. ChatGPT isn't our friend, it is making you worse at your job, and patrons are going to lose faith in us if this doesn't stop.

The Dirtgoblin Community Center is genuinely the most thoughtfully created Discord server community I've ever seen. Throwing some dollars Jeeyon's way is a great use of your money if you are looking for caring community and creative nourishment.

Would love a Jesuit university to make the (clear, moral, and correct) argument that going after them for supporting DEI initiatives is a violation of their religious liberty.

See also, the 1933 Nazi burning of the Institute of Sexology, which held replaceable research into trans and gay identities. Attacks on LGBTQ rights are an effective way to test the waters on what society will tolerate and what other marginalized groups can be targeted next.

This number dropping by 2 might seem like nothing, but imagine if we ALL called? So, so many people feel like none of their actions matter, but the actions of (presumably) a few lead to 2 changed votes. These tiny actions matter SO much. The only way we lose is if we give up entirely.

People are trying to think of ways to be cute about this and: do not. Do not call the feds with spurious reports. Do not play word games about extra terrestrials. Simply do not interact and do not answer questions about other people and always, always, demand a judicial warrant

I'm sure somebody had already said this and I haven't seen it yet but: people clinging to "I never liked him" or "actually I COULD tell there was something wrong with him" or "I can't believe we let it when when it's all over his books" is a trauma response. /1
