The same people who got six out of nine people like this could have just as easily found eighteen out of twenty-seven. There's nothing magical about a larger court that in and of itself stops such people from being appointed.

You can have things that are about trying to restructure the Court in the abstract, for the long term, and that's a fine conversation to have. But none solve the immediate problem which is that these people have to go. You can't do that by leaving them in place no matter what other reforms you make.

Pass a law for court packing (and yes, that's what it is) in a way triggered only if they don't individually resign, make it that explicit. Impeach them, of course. Defund everything except their salaries. Use every congressional tool to make their lives miserable and hound them from the bench.

That's relevant b/c it opens up tools that don't have to be lasting, neutral principles about how we want SCOTUS to work. They can and should be framed as, "break glass in case of emergency" measures explicitly targeting these six people because they are radically unacceptable and unfit for office.

Josh is making a similar point, but I think "Supreme Court reform" is an unhelpful, inaccurate framing. Structural reforms to the Court, whatever their merits, aren't the urgent goal. It's about a campaign against these particular lawless justices because *they* must be removed or else disempowered.

The presidency as we know it should be burned to the ground, and salt the earth. Congress needs a pretty big overhaul, including on the electoral system. But the Court mostly just needs justices who aren't deranged hacks avowedly hostile to fundamental principles of the republic.

We don't need massive SCOTUS reform in the abstract. Fixed terms, some small things. But the problem isn't the Court. It's the justices. These six people are so bad, such enemies of the Constitution, they must be removed or otherwise disempowered even if it means things I'd generally rather not do.
