Rayman PS1 - Skipping Bad Rayman (Candy Château) I managed to skip the Bad Rayman trigger first try yesterday. Honestly it was pure luck. It's so hard to predict where exactly the trigger is. In the GBA version you actually see it marked with a sparkling effect, making this skip much easier.

Rayman PS1 - Eat at Joe's Level I beat it without losing a single life yesterday and I was so happy. Those fish are so hard to predict. This was my least favourite level as a kid (this and the last part of Space Mama's Crater). I lost so many lives here.

I've never played a Pokemon game because as a kid I was a bit of a rebel and never wanted to do anything that was trendy or others were doing. But now I've seen Pokopia and I really, really like it. It looks so cute and fun to play. Maybe some day I have to buy a Switch 2 so I can play that game. 🦊

There was a meteorite, or perhaps falling space debris, visible in the sky over West Germany this evening. Sadly I missed it. :/

Wait, what? A Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition has been confirmed to exist via the Australian Classification Board. I have no expectations. I'll admit, my heart jumped a little just from reading the name Rayman again after years of absence. 🦊 I love Rayman. But I'm not sure if Ubisoft does anymore.

I spent the evening playing PSP. Still love that little portable. Late January last year we had a Gigaleak of R* PSP and PS2 prototypes. It's happening again now. I'll put together a collection of community made fixes for these prototypes including some I made myself.

The reason I don't use Discord is that I once landed on a server of bigots who made fun of me because of my avatar and stalked me for months after. It scared me and I never logged back into Discord again.

Here's the only known music track from the unreleased 2D Rayman 2 from 1996. It was cancelled in favour of a 3D game after the developers saw Crash Bandicoot at the 1996 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The song comes from a PAL PS1 prototype disc of Rayman 2: The Great Escape owned by SolidSnake11.

Kraftwerk - Expo 2000 Jingle The most stupid item I own 🦊 In 1999 the World Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany commissioned Kraftwerk for a jingle. A vocoder voice singing the words "Expo 2000" in 6 languages. The jingle was only available as a promo CD via HAZ newspaper and became a rare collectible.

"Little Sadie" fascinates me with its Dorian mode tune and unconventional way of telling a murder ballad story. Troy Junius Arnall remade it into "Cocaine Blues" in 1947 with a much less interesting tune. Johnny Cash performed it at Folsom Prison in 1968. Here's a performance by Tom Paley in 1970.

Here's "Donkey Riding", a fun sea shanty. The song refers to steam donkey engine ships, not actual donkeys. :3 Tune and words are based on a Scottish folk song, "Highland Laddie". Shanties often recycled older songs. Performed by Tony Hall at the Blaxhall Ship Inn in Blaxhall, Suffolk, UK in 1973.

Tim und Struppi / Tintin on SNES & Game Boy 🦊 The GB games have a brilliant soundtrack by Alberto J. González (McAlby). Hands down the best music I heard coming from the hardware back in the day. Temple du Soleil / Prisoners of the Sun is the better game. A simple platformer with incredible music.

There was someone selling a "Super Mario World 3" in the local newspaper when I was a kid. I was so curious what it was, thinking it was a game I didn't have. I never found out. Probably it was a typo and was Yoshi's Island. Or it was Super Mario RPG imported, but that's unlikely, it wouldn't work.

Colourful SNES buttons ❤️💛💚💙 How could anyone dislike colourful buttons 🌈 The European PAL SNES was the one time we really lucked out and got a beautiful console design where America got an ugly brick and purple controller buttons. We did miss out on some really great RPGs though.

Shadow Man: 2econd Coming is an underwhelming sequel. It ditches everything I love about the first one and turns it into a linear action game. Mike, Nettie, Jaunty got ugly redesigns. The story is lame. Music is still good. I want to like it, but it's rough.

Blippo+ is a neat idea. A "non-game". It simulates channel surfing through wacky 90s cable TV from an alien planet. It reminds me of the acting in 90s videogames like Command & Conquer and Resident Evil, in a good way. It's nostalgic, even though I never cared much for TV except cartoons as a kid.

I'm a silly goose for laughing about this logo. DiC Entertainment I was talking with a friend about Sony MiniDiscs. I made a typo, "Minidic Player" and we started laughing. Then I was reminded of this clip. :P

Here's a folk revival performance of King Orfeo (Skoven Årle Grøn) by Danish scholars Thomas Bredsdorff and Anne-Marie Mai at a sing-around in Denmark in 2009. Many people don't like bagpipes. But they can be effective in the right setting. I love this recording. Sadly the tape ran out at the end.

This song fascinated me since I was a teen. King Orfeo or Skoven Årle Grøn is a folk song retelling of the Greek legend of Orpheus. It has verses in Shetland Scots and a refrain in Norn, the extinct Scandinavian language of Shetland and Orkney. Here it is sung by Kitty Anderson of Lerwick in 1955.
