Fichtenwald im Winter I love how the needle tree areas of the forest look unchanged on a sunny winter day whereas the leaf trees are all golden brown or bare by now. It really changes the scenery. You'd be mistaken for thinking the photo was taken in summer. That was today, November 22nd, 2025.

The weather was gorgeous. Sunny, but freezing cold. I had a nice walk and took a few pictures.

Here's a photo of a happy Ren ^-^ It's probably cringe, but I see them as milestones on my way to feeling happier with myself. I'm working on it.

Yesterday we got our first snow but it wasn't cold enough to stay on the ground. The last snow-rich winter was 2018. I'm always excited for it because snow is such a rare sight.

The reason I never got into Super Mario Maker are the physics for the retro styles. 🦊 The physics are all wrong for SMB1, SMB3 and World. That bothers me a lot. They all use NSMB physics. The shadows behind all objects bother me too. It isn't accurate to the real games.

Having a day with not much to do I think I want to dabble in some Kraftwerk stuff again. I spent months cherry picking the highest quality concert recordings of the band. I could make a playlist of them. I have excellent hearing and a pretty good judgement of what makes a bootleg recording "good".

My back is completely pain free thanks to physio therapy and the daily walks. If I can keep this up I'll be a real person again. One who can actually do things. 🦊 And as soon as I feel better my excitement to work on projects comes back again. Please let me keep this up. This is so good.

Something that greatly impresses me about birds of prey is their ability to "hover in place the air" to observe their surroundings. When they spot prey they swipe down to grab it. Some species are even able to see near ultraviolet light. They can spot the urine trails of small rodents to find them.

Free as a bird 🪶 A common sight late October / early November in the Saarland region of Germany. They fly Southwards for the winter months and return in spring when the weather turns mild again. I thought they're wild geese, but no, they're cranes (Kraniche in German). Geese make different noises.

I love watching the sunset from this spot on my hiking trips in the nearby hills. I have a few favourite spots where I enjoy hanging out, listening to music or just relaxing, this is one of them.
