The low-maintenance costs (and not having to make the appointments for maintenance like oil changes) are one of the many reasons I love driving an electric car.

I had to do the first-ever maintenance on my 2017 Bolt (which I bought used ~5 years ago). It was making a weird noise. I took it to the dealership, they hooked it up to a computer, it was a quick software fix, cost $200. That's $200 in maintenance across 5 years.

Update on the first bike commute of the season. After a season of being closed, my favorite bridge over the Mississippi River is open! The Dinkytown Greenway Bridge (aka Bridge 9). Isn’t that view just gorgeous?

First bike/bus commute of the season on @metrotransitmn.bsky.social! I’m a bit of a fair-weather bike commuter especially with dark and ice. But new season is here! And I can’t help note it coincides with the onset of $100/barrel oil prices.

I’ve had the honor & pleasure of working with Ashley. So grateful she is bringing her skill & wisdom to this moment in this way. I’m tempted to say her magic, but that isn’t right. She is a talented person who loves her community and stepped up. It feels like magic, but we can all do it in some way.

The twin cities snowstorm was more than i expected! So I last-minute decided to walk/train/bus home from St Paul to Mpls. And I’ve had the best @metrotransitmn.bsky.social experience. The trip advisors on the green line dealt respectfully w/ someone smoking on train. And I caught the 9 bus quickly!

A strong, free, independent press is so important to the civic fabric that makes Minnesota who we are. Grateful for all the folks who do this essential work and proud to contribute to you all.

Bring all the detained children home to Minnesota. And stop detaining children. It is horrifying that this is happening. The educators working so hard to hold their school communities together and sound the alarm for all of us to act are heroes. These educators are heroes who protect kids.

Parents are afraid to send their kids to school, classrooms sit half-empty, children are being taken to detention facilities. We’ve crossed a line. I stood with education leaders to discuss the growing harm federal actions are causing to children, families, and our schools.

Some very good news. And we keep going. We need to keep going to bring more home and stop more from being taken.

I love Mpls. My kid has a small list of safe foods including a v. specific order from our neighborhood pizza shop. Today, 5 mins after ordering, I got a call from them confirming it was right. It wasn’t! The guy making it recognized the order & that it wasn’t right. So, he checked. Dinner saved! 🥺

The horrors are happening across the state. Not just in Minneapolis or the Twin Cities metro.

There isn’t any indication that immigration activity has changed in Minneapolis. In fact, this afternoon, federal immigration agents began staging at Holy Rosary Catholic Church located in East Phillips. This activity is disgraceful and creates an unsafe environment for our neighbors. 1/

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Be aware of black ice this morning Twin Cities people. I saw a dozen turned around and smashed up cars on a mile stretch of freeway between downtown Minneapolis and my neighborhood. I hope everyone is okay.

I’m proud of us Minnesota. We will keep going until ICE is out of our communities. We keep each other safe.

A reminder that @bradtabke.bsky.social won his seat by 14 votes and it took Melissa Hortman 6 weeks of a DFL boycott to get him seated in the Minnesota House. He's been leading efforts in Shopee since ICE targeted his community. F'ing hero, putting it all on the line.

To add to this, make sure you eat enough. Your body needs fuel to stay warm in this cold. And bring snacks that are easy to eat and will give a shot of energy.

I think the scale of this federal invasion in Minnesota is hard to comprehend if you aren’t living amongst it. These comparisons to the size of the police forces in the state help make it a little more straightforward to comprehend.

Heard this story on the drive home. And it piled rage on top of more rage. And it also made me want to hug all the women standing up for and protecting ALL of our community members right now.

I am so grateful for AG Keith Ellison and his whole team. The federal invasion in MN is dangerous and illegal. Grateful our MN attorney general is taking legal action to stop it.

Kelly Morrison on a Twin Cities ICE facility she & other members of Congress tried to visit: "We were told to leave. We met with 2 of the commanding officers & they told us the reason we were not able to stay & meet with detainees is because the funding for ICE came from the 'Big Beautiful Bill.'"

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building. Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained. The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.

We need ICE out.

A US citizen has apparently been shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I’m gathering information, but the situation on the ground is volatile. ICE should leave now for everyone’s safety.

I am aware of a shooting involving an ICE agent at 34th Street & Portland. The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city. We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities.

My public safety team is working to gather information on an ICE related shooting this morning. We will share information as we learn more. In the meantime, I ask folks to remain calm.

Regardless of who you are or what agency you work for, if you shoot or kill people in Minneapolis you need to be arrested immediately and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Full stop.
