Tbh his speech really laid out from the first words that it’s about more than Trump. He’s talking about the dangers of relying on one big country, pretending that’s safe, and he’s laying out that it’s inevitable that any such superpower would throw off its restraints.

My remarks at tonight's invited lecture at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. High-level takeaway: federalists should be pragmatic, purposeful, and prepared for the probable referendum on Alberta sovereignty.

I can’t imagine how scared people are in the EDs in AB right now. But I know walking outside, driving a car, getting up on a ladder at home… I think about safety a lot. I know if I need to call 911, there may not be help coming for a while, treatment likely delayed in EDs. Healthcare in Smith’s AB.

Years ago, I warned that Danielle Smith would run out of enemies in political realm and turn her sights on the courts. Her latest attacks aren't some high-minded philosophical critique of judicial supremacy. They're pure populist pablum, specially crafted to remove yet another check on her power.
