Ultimately, Amorim’s refusal to adapt will cost him at United. Admirable, in a sense, that he sticks to his principles, but there’s scant evidence the change he wants is coming quickly enough. Time is running out. Wins were needed at the start of this season. They haven’t come.

I feel like the idea of what tactics and formations are useful for has been flipped on its head to be honest. You set up to maximise what you’ve got, minimise the weaknesses that remain, not to suit some utopian line up you might never get to assemble.

The only thing keeping Amorim in here is that he’s INEOS’ hire. I do think they’re a bit better than when he took charge, but it’s not enough after nearly a year. They still don’t create/score enough and give plenty of soft chances away that often get punished.

I can see Garnacho thriving at Chelsea, purely because there won’t be the same pressure and scrutiny as at United. He’s made some mistakes. Think the writing was on the wall when he chose not to celebrate that goal against Leicester due to fans saying things on social media

Shame it’s ended this way for Garnacho. Watching him go from that run in the Youth Cup to breaking into the first team was one of few bright points in the last few years. A shame too that he’s gone to Chelsea for such a low fee, whatever the circumstances with his entourage.
