Spiderwick is such a beautiful and loving look at the fae. I grew up on Brian froud and fell in love with fairy folklore and the strange, dark and peculiar creatures he illustrated. Spiderwick hits those notes so exactly. The art is so wonderful

In Looming, sirens arent a creature but a job title. Usually a job taken up by merfolk and harpies. They're scouts that keep track of humans in their area, and lure people away from snickelway doors and whiskered settlements. Unicorns also do this but they don't lure you. they just impale you lol
