Anyone else exhausted by the online decline? I miss what the internet used to be. Sure it had its problems but now there’s more ads, less privacy, toxic social media, bots, Ai and fewer independent sites. I’m not a fan of the increase in surveillance capitalism and government surveillance, either

I deleted my discord + TikTok account, uninstalled Instagram, signed up for Proton and Signal for privacy. Now I’m lurking here for art and opinions. There is a part of me that wants to trade in my cell for a landline, pager and answering machine. Plus I have a reading list ready to go.

I've seen discourse surrounding artists "peaking" at 30 and I just want to say don't fall for that trap! I'll be 45 this year and I don't think I've ever been more resolute about my work. Existence and perseverance is art; you can not PEAK yourself. Every iota of creation you make is a miracle.☄️

tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.

After looking into materials, flame retardants/chemicals, long term reviews and even class action lawsuits, I’ll be trading my mattress in for a shikibuton. Cotton, wool and latex. Including a tatami mat ofc. Requires more fluffing and a general routine to avoid mold or sagging but I’m chuffed.
