Pull ur trusted community closer in friends. Pull the folks closer to share food, and warmth and care so we can remember what we are fighting for. Our love for each other, is the engine we have to fuel to keep us going

It’s our care for eachother that will keep us going when the fight gets rough. And the fight has been rough for a very long time for a lot of us. Lean into ur feelings whatever they are. hold space for your feelings. Let others hold you. Hold space for others. This is one way we will get through

Every day it feels like another horror; another attempt to gut care, dignity, humanity from everyday life. We have to keep fighting back. And we also have to lean into tenderness with our loved ones, so that we can be sustained and strengthened for the fight

Some bruja’s wear fitted caps and J’s. But ya’ll been so focused on head wraps and sandals you missed who was moving spirit versus who was shifting scams. Be mindful. Without spirit and integrity; all those costumes ain’t nothing but caricatures in cotton balls.

Patriarchy & untreated trauma, when paired with structural power and white privilege; is one of the most dangerous threats to our world today.

Anywho my commitment is to continue making things with others in the world. Simple and also difficult. But always necessary.

It takes a village to raise a child; and it takes a village to allow abuse.

It takes a community to commit intimate partner violence. One hand can hit a survivor’s face; but it’s hundreds of other hands that conspire to keep that hand hidden, those bruises covered, and their own access to power uninterrupted.

The years pass & there are different women but the narratives are the same. Today Megan & Cassie. Yesterday Anita Hill. Robin Givens. The collective psychological pattern repeats. The core wound is anger at a woman whose power scared u; whose pain u could not silence

We do not protect Black men when we absolve them of their choices. We do not protect Black men when we minimize the impact of their actions. When this is done, we enable an adolescent state of being; one where absolution can always come from pointing a finger at any woman

Sometimes we don’t want to believe her, because we didn’t want to believe what Dad was. We wanted to make mom responsible for his failures, his absence-everything- always her fault. And now she- or any extension of she- can never not be guilty or responsible for a man’s choices.

The hate for women & Black women particularly, runs deep. All that anger at mothers, grandmothers, x-wives, friends & girlfriends, all that pain & hurt; misdirected into misogyny. Performative veneration of mothers masked within a seething rage at the feminine & women’s power.
