"The Spotify model is like saying your favorite restaurant should just be giving you free food until you decide to buy a t-shirt." New interview with me in this great deep-dive into 2000s music piracy, how we adapted with NIN, and the failures of streaming:

It used to be that the Home Run Derby was a bloated, boring pseudo-spectacle, and the All-Star Game was fun. Now the Home Run Derby kicks ass, and the All-Star Game is boring pageantry. Circle O'Life.

There's something deeply funny about the US leading a multinational anti-piracy operation and calling it "Operation Offsides" when the US is the only country that erroneously calls it "offsides."

During the group stage, Fox had at least some intelligent insights in their coverage. Now they're comparing Haaland and Harry Kane to Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes for the sTuPiD aMeRiCaNs who don't understand soccer ๐

As someone of both English and Irish ancestry, I have very mixed feelings about supporting the Three Lions. But I will never root for Mexico as long as they have the homophobic chant.

From the Telemundo broadcast just now by the commentary team during a slow-mo replay of the goal and a shot of Haaland with his hair down: "This is a perfect goal. The ball didn't touch anything." In exaggerated, gravely, dramatic voice: "TERMINATOR"

All respect to a solid Sweden team, but these France goals look like the ones I net playing FIFA with the sliders on easy. It's just not something you often see at this level.

DR Congo superfan denied US visa to support team at World Cup
Michel Kuka Mboladinga is iconic for his motionless tribute at DRC games, but a US World Cup repeat has been denied.

Considering the current state of CBS, I'm a little surprised that The Regime didn't strongarm them into showing the fights on network. It's a real silver lining that 0.0003 million people will see them on paramount plus.

Does anyone have any good soccer tactics blogs/sites to recommend for the World Cup? I used to really enjoy Zonal Marking and miss it - the analysis wasn't always spot-on, but at least it gave me things to look for in formations/systems I wasn't necessarily used to seeing.
