And speaking of my little dog (two posts ago), she got her staples out today and the wound (from her melanoma removal) is finally looking really good after it split open six days after the procedure.

I found this feather earlier today. So bright and amazing. I then discovered that it was probably from the aforementioned dead bird.

My little dog started to rub herself all over something gross today, and as I pulled her out of it, I started to say, ‘No! We don’t roll in…’ was going to say ‘poop’, but I realised what it was and ended with ‘dead birds’. Thankfully it was kind of dried out. Poor old rainbow lorikeet. #DeadThings

By the time I reach the final day of the second week of taking progesterone (14 days out of 30) for my HRT/MHT, the extreme sleepiness an hour after taking them seems to wear off. I still sleep better in general when I’m taking them, but the effect hits more… gently. #perimenopause

At the house sit we’re currently at, one of the chooks was sitting on some eggs, and at least one baby chicken has hatched! I looked in on her nesting area this morning and spotted a tiny, fluffy, black chick, and I could hear it cheeping. I didn’t get a pic before I hid under its mum’s wings.

This is made from all scrap pieces (and the backing fabric was op shopped). I’ve started stitching each raw edge down down with herringbone stitch, will do some sashiko on most or all of the pieces, then fold it double to become a boro style zokin (Japanese cleaning cloth). #sashiko #CraftSky 🧶

Speaking of Halloween, and the recent story of my little doggo’s burst incision being put together again, her staples are kind of perfect for Halloween. She dressed up as a FrankenDog!

So, here’s the full story of what happened with my little doggo’s not-quite-healed melanoma incision six days after the procedure. Yesterday late afternoon, a few hours after arriving at a house sit out in the country, she split her stitches (three of the stitches had literally fallen out… 1/8🧵

What a day! Errands this morning, driving to a new house sit an hour away in the afternoon, and then having to drive an hour back north again to an emergency vet after my little dog’s melanoma incision burst its stitches!! Got back 10pm and had a late dinner with my kid. Lucky we had late lunch!

Look at me finally doing my tax return one day before the final due date, in bed, via the app on my phone, before 8am! Woot!

I’m glad I was never subjected to this type of thing or learnt how to parent this way.

Went to the shops without my smartwatch and had to pay for groceries by tapping my phone like some kind of Neanderthal!!

I took the cone of shame off my little dog so she could have her dinner and a drink, and she hasn’t touched her incision since then, so I left it off. I’ll put it back on at bedtime so that she doesn’t lick the wound while I’m asleep, but hopefully she’ll be able to have more breaks tomorrow.

Uh oh. She managed to reach her incision from her melanoma surgery yesterday and started licking it quite enthusiastically. So with equal parts sadness and hilarity, I’ve had to fit the cone of shame. My poor little doggo.

She’s a bit glassy-eyed and sleepy still, but my little doggo is now back with me and doing well. They reckon she won’t be able to reach the incision where the melanoma was removed, so no cone of shame unless she starts licking or biting at it. I’m so glad she’s back. I was fretting for her.

My little doggo’s surgery for removing the melanoma is tomorrow. So this is the point where I start alternating between giving her lots of cuddles and pacing nervously until tomorrow morning, right?

My little doggo needs to have a melanoma removed from her back. She’s going in on Friday for the surgery. She’s healthy and well aside from being a little bit of an older dog (a 10-year-old Maltese x Shih Tzu), so I’m not super worried, but I do still feel a little bit anxious about it.
