I was always told that one of the central lessons of the Shoah is that legal, juridical regimes can still be immoral. The claim that Anne Frank was in Amsterdam "legally" is false, but more than that, the question "Was Anne Frank an illegal?" is so grossly missing the point of Holocaust remembrance.

Trump is obsessed with the Nobel because Obama got one. He's a longstanding racist (Central Park Five case, 1989) who led the Obama "birther" conspiracy. The black guy still has something he hasn't. His madness isn't an individual matter, it's the madness of slavery, Jim Crow, racist cops.

The whole thing about the discussion whether fascism is irrational (and also that colonial violence was „rational“ vs the Holocaust being „irrational“) is that it seems to lack a fundamental understanding that capitalist rationality is very much irrational.
