I hope Neon actually does a good job of handling Ally and not repeat what they did with Robot Dreams and Arco. That's all I hope for.

The only thing I will say about the current film criticism discourse is I don't like the increase in buzzwords being used in professional reviews. Why am I seeing terms like "slop" and "jingling keys" in IndieWire reviews? Did they hire Harry Knowles?

Curiosity got the better of me. May be this the only time I will ever see an Angel film on the big screen. I did not give them a single cent.

Even with the production problems it had and the baggage it was going through, I was hoping that Michael would pull through quality wise. Guess not with the reviews it has been getting... ...yikes. They have been bad.

What a crazy week. And I also have nothing to say about what happened after Hexed's casting announcements were out. With this and what happened with The Legend of Aang, animators really deserve so much better. Almost all of Marvel's visual development team being let go is also sad, too.

I'm also still not fully on board with the angle that Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory is going with, but with the talent it has... ...I can honestly see it working IF it has the right execution. Although anything better than The Twits is already a good sign.

When you put Hailee Steinfeld in any animated project... ...it's always a good sign. The Spider-Verse films and Arcane were BIG signs of proof. I still remember when Hexed was going to have a mother/son angle, but I don't mind the mother/daughter angle it's going with. It has TONS to prove...

I can see why DreamWorks literally decided to screen an early cut of Forgotten Island almost half a year before it comes out. The reactions I have been seeing have shown why. They clearly have something fantastic here.

Also, you need a LOT of justification for that Aunt Gladys film to be any good. One of the reasons why Gladys worked as a character was because we didn't know where on Earth she came from. She was just this magical person who randomly showed up in a typical suburban area.

I will happily take more Paddingtons. I will take a hundred more Paddingtons. And a fully animated Mr. Men film. Plus, at the very least, with the family films he made and Alita, Rodriguez does at least seem like someone who can work well with animation.

The ironic thing about Mario Galaxy and especially it's infamous "worse than AI" review... ...is that it does end with the anti AI training message that all of Universal's films starting with M3GAN 2.0, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and Bad Guys 2 have used. That's just going very backwards...

I could maybe believe Paramount or Warner Bros deciding not to make an animated film, because of being a "girl power" movie. But Disney? The company that makes billions off Frozen and Moana and princess merchandise? I'm a tad skeptical they would do that.

Slop, this feels like it was made by A.I./ChatGPT, Soulless, Pretentious and Jingling Keys are among the top words and phrases you will never see me use in a review. Because I actually try to engage with the movie or show as best as I can.

We got some heartbreaking news. Gary Goldman, known for being Don Bluth's animation partner, is suffering from dementia. His wife Cathy needs all the financial help she can get to take care of him. If you'd like to help out, there's a GoFundMe where you can donate.

If "Sing 2" is any indication, I predict "Sing 3" will be about Buster Moon being falsely accused of using AI in his productions and thus, sets out to prove that he and his friends are using their genuine human talents. Annoying tech bros will be the villains.

Without naming names, there's a critic who seems to say any film he doesn't like is probably AI-generated. If you frequently use some variation of the phrase "this feels like it was made by AI" to say "I don't like this", then maybe you're the one who's an AI.

Things may play out very differently, but seeing some of the reactions that Mario Galaxy is getting did show that at least Horvath, Jelenic, and the Illumination team were aware of the issues that people had with Mario Bros. I gotta give them respect for that.

I have also seen a teeny, tiny bit of the leaked Dino Movie trailer. There's a LOT of things aimed at the youngest of target audiences worse than Paw Patrol. You can really do a lot worse. I do want to see it in English, though, what I did see was dubbed in French.
