I only recently watched this movie for the first time, and while I can understand why many have called this an underrated gem that should have been released in theaters, I personally thought it was just okay, especially cos of how convoluted the narrative structure was especially near the end.

To be honest, it’s not just Pixar, there were plenty of animated films from Disney, DreamWorks and other mainstream studios that had those elements too. It’s always great when they aren’t afraid to have those dark adult elements without going too far so kids can still watch.

I know others have already said this, but as great as this show is, it would be the kind of show that would get so much hate if it was made nowadays as it would mostly just be seen as a ‘corporate jerking off’ with all the properties featured.

I actually rewatched this movie after many years and while I don’t think I’d call it the worst sci-fi animated movie since Escape from Planet Earth and the Space Chimps films are quite a low bar, but it’s still pretty bad. Rover must be protected at all costs though.

A lot of people also tend to give modern Disney animated movies like the Frozen films and especially Raya a lot of shit for their use of quote “MCU humor” and “Gen Z slang” and are even predicting Hexed will do the same, when you could also argue the films of the renaissance era also had similar-

Just rewatched The Powerpuff Girls Movie and while the film itself certainly isn’t great mainly due to the pacing, Professor Utonium’s role in the film and especially the performance by Tom Kane was definitely a highlight since he carried the emotional weight. Such a heartbreaking loss. RIP. 🪦

Given his health problems over the years, I knew this day would be coming eventually, but this is still heartbreaking. Of course, for me like everyone else Professor Utonium will always be my main memory of him, especially as the og PPG was one of my favourite Cartoon Network shows growing up. 😢

Yeah, I mean, I’d much rather show my future kids (if I ever have any) better stuff like Bluey or Sesame Street, but at its core, Cocomelon is really just nothing but a series of badly animated nursery rhyme videos for toddlers that’s mostly harmless at best and isn’t doing anything truly awful.

There are VERY few people who’ve had a celebrity status in history who you can say literally made the world a better place. While we did sadly lose Ted Turner this week, at least we can have a moment to still honour one of the world’s greatest naturalists while he’s still here.

The legacy that Ted Turner had for film and animation cannot be understated. Without him, we wouldn't have had Cartoon Network or Turner Classic Movies which helped keep the legacy of Hanna-Barbera and the classic films in the MGM library alive. An important figure, no doubt.

I mean, the year before Disney was almost going to open a new studio called Circle 7 that would only make DTV sequels to Pixar films. Their Toy Story 3 would have had Woody speaking broken Chinese and Finding Nemo 2 would have had a long lost brother for Nemo so we certainly dodged a bullet there.

You know I’m actually pretty glad The Sheep Detectives turned out good cause I don’t know if anyone else noticed but usually when directors who primarily work in animation make a live action film it more often than not doesn’t turn out well.

Yeah, this was pretty solid. I wouldn’t say the story was the best written, but it’s one of those films that’s very wholesome and quirky but in a good way much like Babe and isn’t afraid to get surprisingly dark and emotional at times. If you want to see a good farm movie right now, watch this

I haven’t seen Project Hail Mary yet cause I’m seeing the real great Amazon MGM release this year! Though for a seemingly dumb family comedy from a former Illumination director this has been getting some surprisingly positive reviews. I’ll see it for myself.
