Take this for what it is; an acknowledgment by the White House that they are not focusing on people with criminal records.

While Congressional Republicans shut down the government and refuse to negotiate to make health care more affordable, Trump is illegally revoking funding for programs, unlawfully firing thousands of federal workers, and sending troops to occupy American cities.

When talking about Democrats, Trump said, “If they don’t vote, it’s their problem.” If Trump doesn’t sit down with Democrats and negotiate to reopen the government, he will be the problem for millions of Americans losing their food aid and paying double for health care.

Most shutdowns end because two sides who initially were unable to come to an agreement during negotiations finally compromised when the pain points hit and things got worked out. But in this one, Trump ordered Republicans not to negotiate at all. That makes it hard to resolve.
